A piece of nielloware jewelry from Siam (now Thailand). Nielloware jewelry from Siam was particularly popular between the 1930s and 1960s. Niello is a black mixture, usually of sulfur, copper, silver, and lead, used as an inlay on engraved or etched metal, especially silver. The brooch features a traditional Thai dancer design, which is typical of Siam sterling silver jewelry from the mid-20th century. The brooch shows signs of tarnish and wear, typical for a vintage piece of its age.

The piece is marked SIAM, indicating it was made in Thailand before the country changed its name from Siam to Thailand in 1939, though the name Siam continued to be used in jewelry until around the 1980s.
