EARLY 20TH C CHINESE ANTIQUE HAND PAINTED STAVED WOOD STORAGE BIN. THIS PIECE IS VERY OLD AND IN EXCELLENT CONDITION.

7 1⁄2 x 7 1⁄4 Width/Depth
7 3⁄4 Height
Weight: 2 lbs.

Original and authentic. Early 20th century, Qing Dynasty, imperial Chinese hand painted, staved wood, ornate and wonderfully decorated rice pail or grain storage bin with painted tin reinforcing strips, designed to keep the individual staved wood pieces of the vessel's sidewalls, in place, tight and immovable. The rice bucket could have been used to also hold water or as a storage bin for other dry grains. It was not found with a lid. Four individual floral vignettes populate the sidewalls of the bucket, featuring wonderfully painted lotus flowers of varying colors, set against a bouquet of green leaves and surrounded by two smaller flowers. The wood body is painted with Chinese red enamel while the tin lattice work is painted with a tangerine orange.
