COUNCIL OF WAR AFTER THE LANDING OF WILLIAM OF ORANGE by Henry Gillard Glindoni

This is a Wood Engraving / illustration / print that has been taken from a book dated 1894 and is ready for framing. Measures approximately 11 1/2 x 9 inches.
The Council of War After the Landing of William of Orange was a significant event during the Nine Years' War. William, the Stuart monarch, was involved in four major wars, including the Franco-Dutch War, the War of the Grand Alliance, the Williamite War in Ireland, and the War of the Spanish Succession. William defended the Protestant cause against the interests of Catholic monarchies1. During the early years of his reign, William was occupied abroad, leaving Mary to govern Britain alone. She died in 1694. In 1696, the Jacobites, a faction loyal to the deposed James, plotted unsuccessfully to assassinate William and restore James to the throne.
