Rare Mark Twain North American Review 1895 Book Literary Magazine Volume 161. There’s not another one of these online.

Founded in Boston in 1815, the North American Review is the oldest literary magazine in the US. Published at the University of Northern Iowa (Cedar Falls)

Featuring Fenimore Cooper's Literary Offenses is an 1895 essay by Mark Twain, written as a satire and criticism of the writings of James Fenimore Cooper. It draws on examples from The Deerslayer and The Pathfinder from Cooper's Leatherstocking Tales. First printing and rare! Literally the first article in book.

Overall this volume is in pretty great condition. This copy obviously wasn’t read much. The pages are in great shape, and although the cover has wear, nothing that’s not unusual for some thing at this age. The binding is still very tight. Excellent copy featuring one of Twain‘s most famous essays.

This volume of North American review also features writers such as Austin Corbin, Lady Jeune, and more.
