VINTAGE, @ late 1980's; from vacation to beautiful Costa Rica.
Large Tile: 9 x 9 ; Hot Plate: 6.75 x 6.75
Both pieces are signed by the artist and say in Spanish, Handmade- Suraj (artist's name)-Costa Rica- followed by a number. (please see pics.) Bold, colorful, and a perfect depiction of the towns/homes in Costa Rica.
These pieces have gotten a lot of use, but still add so much character. The large tile is signed on the front, too; it can either be simply decorative or used as a hot plate. The tile and painting is still nicely intact with glossy finish-excellent condition except one tiny chip on lower-right corner (see 6th pic). The hot plate is framed in stained, walnut-colored wood. The wood has many superficial scratches as shown in last two pics, but I think it just adds a bit more rustic-look; the spots can easily be covered by a wood-colored marker.
