This exquisite antique vase by Royal Nippon Nishiki features hand-painted moriage detailing with floral and sailboat motifs. Its double-handled design reflects traditional Japanese artistry and timeless elegance.
The boats are framed in the center by tropical pink, green, and yellow foliage, embellished with gilded moriage decorations throughout. Yellow, green, and pink wrap around, also a branch of delicate purple flowers is depicted. The vase also features two handles, and a round top rim which is embellished with gold paint. Would make a gorgeous addition to any place.
Background about Nippon ceramics: Nippon generally refers to Japanese wares made during the period from 1891 to 1921, although the Nippon mark was also used to a limited extent on later wares accompanied by 'Japan.' Nippon, meaning Japan, identified the country of origin to comply with American importation restrictions. After 1921, 'Japan' was the acceptable alternative.
