This detailed 19th-century biography chronicles the life and post–Civil War political career of James G. Blaine, a dominant American statesman from Maine. A powerful voice in the Republican Party, Blaine served as both a U.S. Representative and Senator, and was a three-time Secretary of State. He played a key role in shaping Reconstruction-era politics and ran for president in 1884. Beautifully decorated clothbound cover with ornate spine illustration .

Overall good condition for its age:

• Cover: marks and wear at edges and corners (slightly curled), inner hinges cracked but still holding
• Spine: wear at ends, cloth shows some waviness, typical of age, but structurally sound
• Pages: overall good condition with a few age marks, may have a couple folded corners and small tears. Most pages a clean though darkened
• Edges: age marks and darkening

Please see all pictures as well to help determine condition.
