First edition thus, third printing hardcover copy of Canons & Decrees of the Council of Trent translated by Reverend H. J. Schroeder (Herder Books, 1955). This edition first published in 1941. Contains the original Latin as well as Schroeder’s English language translation of the massively influential Council of Trent - a series of meetings of Catholic leaders in the 16th century to clarify and adjust Catholic teachings as well as respond to the Protestant Reformation. Jacket protected in new archival sleeve but with heavy wear, especially around the edges. Some torn/missing bits around the edges and staining to faces, among other imperfections. Liquid staining to rear board and jacket. Board corners bumped. Binding split in a few gutters and is loosening somewhat. Previous owner’s ex-libris sticker on fep. Some markings to bottom outer edge of text block. See photos for condition.
