Egyptian Fertility vintage medallion breastplate fish coin crescents necklace
Massive breastplate heavy necklace has the look of an ancient Ottoman artifact. The motifs are plated in a greek gold type finish.
Unusually large, complex, dramatic pectoral ornament of gilded metal comprises 1 large fish ornament with 3 more fish suspended, then more smaller fish with leaf shaped filigree pendants & gilded coins. The coins variously stamped with writing. 1 missing small coin noted below the large fish , but this piece is so intricate and massive that it is not visible. There are labradorite looking stones in some of the eyes of the fish. Coins & fish are typically signs of plenty & prosperity. Fish pendants were particularly favored in Egypt's Abu el Numrus region & most probably were made by local Egyptian Jewish jewellers.
The chain @34" without a clasp & designed to go over the head. Wear it as a statement piece or on the wall for a great piece of art.
