Fairy Tale Windows Jewelry Chest Handmade One of a Kind Trinket Keepsake Box

This immaculately detailed, vintage-style wooden jewelry chest was created by upcycling an old trinket box from a thrift store. It measures about 9” wide, 6.75” high. and 5.25” deep.

After stripping it, cleaning it, and doing some repairs, I decoupaged prints of my own artwork onto the top, sides, and front panels, inspired by the stained glass storytelling within Beauty and the Beast.

The process permanently adheres the prints to the wooden surfaces, which gets sealed by the decoupage medium. Any wood left exposed gets hand painted. From there I added antique detailing and furniture wax over everything by hand; this ages it and shows off the detailed sealant brush strokes, giving it a vintage, rustic feel in contrast with the shiny polish.

The chest retains the original closing clasp and hinges, but has been given new drawer handles. The insides are lined with luxurious, hand-cut red velvet.
