Beautiful example of a reversed painted castle on glass. Marked "on the Danube" and from the 1930-40's. The painting is regal, eerie, beautiful, haunting, powerful and intriguing all at once. There is mother of pearl accent throughout the castle. Showing it to be sparkly and delicate while also dark and dooming. The significant damage of the frame only helps to accentuate the whole ambiance of the castle scene. It looks like no other frame could handle this piece. This is a STATEMENT stand out situation!
There is an area of paint loss in the water to the side of the castle. The moon has lots of little cracks in it and one small chip. There are numerous other tiny chips throughout.
