This is A WWII ERA 35.5 overall inch 19 KYU-GUNTO SABER. In my research of this item, I found a great description on the history, and included it in my photos. Seeing as it had a crest, I also looked it up for a family name. My saber does indeed have the brass wire around hilt. It appears someone tried to put an edge on it, but overall a beautiful historical piece. The scabbard has a tiny dent in it but doesn't affect the slide of the saber.
