Jimmy Buffet's signature song from his album - Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes, released on Valentine's Day, 1977. It was certified PLATINUM December 14, 1977 and was heralded as the most requested song on rock/pop & easy listening radio for over a year. Buffett wrote most of the song in one night at a friend's house in Austin after he discovered the drink at Lung's Cocina del Sur restaurant (which is now High 5 today).
He finished Margaritaville up in Key West and Jimmy Buffett was suddenly the "GURU" of Island music and that "frozen concoction." It remains his highest charting solo single and after a monster like that - who needs one higher ?
