Purchased in an art gallery shop in Mazatlan, Mexico in 2006.
I believe these to be genuine, made in Mexico, not in China. No markings but the craftsmanship is handmade.
Measurements:
Large Grey: 11” wide x 8” high
Small gray: 6” wide x 8” high
Green: 10.5” high x 6.5” wide
Red: 7” high, 5.5” wide
Mayan masks were made from a variety of materials, including wood, gold, shell and volcanic rock, they used masks for a variety of reasons; to adorn the faces of the dead, to be worn at important events, to be worn during battle, and to be hung in houses.
