Hardcover, DJ; Good/ Fair. Assume First Edition; c. 1945, no note of further printings, same date on title page. 7.25 x 6.5", unpaginated, illus. endpapers. SIGNED & inscribed in red pencil "For Bird From Dwig" by book's illustrator "Dwig"- on front fixed endpaper. Looks like he also shaded in parts of that page's illustration w/ other colored pencils- a nice personal touch.
DJ Fair- would be Good, except for large triangular chip (5" x 4.5" x 4.5") extending down from top of blank BACK panel- otherwise light chipping & sm. closed tears at edges, light soil & spine discolor. Illus. FRONT panel still displays well. Illus. board binding is Good to VG w/ light soil, bit of rubbing & toning. No bumps, frays, sun. Text lightly toned; clean & unmarked. A nice copy.
