Marta Lipowska is a Polish painter whose work has received international exposure. Her impressionistic paintings explore themes of the every day while focusing on the materiality of paint and engaging in the innately physical process of painting.
For Lipowska, the real excitement of painting lies in the process. She uses oil on canvas to express and explore the subtle changes in atmosphere and color provided by light and shadow. Lipowskas style is impressionistic, capturing the essence of a scene with her brush or palette knife, which she uses to create this textured, impasto effect.
Lipowska has exhibited extensively in both group and solo shows across Poland and further afield in Germany, Italy, and the United Kingdom. In 2008 she was named an artist under 35 to watch by the Compass of Young Art.
