Here is a potentially rare piece!! It is a 1911 Pittsburg Turn-Bezirk Gut Heil FFST Ribbon/Medal- Bezirks Turnfest Johnstown, PA.

Turn-Bezirk Gut Heil translated means "Turn District Good Healing" and Bezirks Turnfest means "District Gymnastics Festival".

So I believe this is an early 1900's ribbon from a Johnstown, PA based German Gymnastics group in an event held in Pittsburgh, PA.

Based on my research, the reverse FFST symbol was a somewhat obscure variant that began to appear in the later part of the 19th century and represented Frisch-Frei-Stark-Treu (energetic-free-strong-true). It was based on German 4-F Turners (Gymnasts) and Socialist sports movements.

The 1911 is hard to read on the ribbon, but interestingly the Pittsburg on the medal is without the "h". The "h" was added to Pittsburgh around 1911.
