Beautiful hand colored rare hard to find signed print of Louis Szántó. Hungarian born painter & etcher of figures, landscapes and marine views, he studied art in Vienna & Budapest before the outbreak of WWI. He served with the Austrian Army from 1914 to 1918. After the war, he developed an international reputation for both his paintings & etchings. He worked & traveled throughout the Baltic States, Italy, France & Holland & exhibited his art in many major centers, including New York & Chicago. In the early years of the Great Depression (c. 1930), Szántó moved to the United States where he worked on art projects commissioned by the Works Progress Administration (W.P.A.). The frame is in beautiful antique condition and the print has no damage. The back paper was removed a long time ago but the backing is completely intact. Original tacking and hangers. Most prints do not come in the original frames. This is a special gem.
