From a dear family member - who traveled most of her lifetime and collected the most amazing items! I had to do a lot of research and reached out to an expert in sea beans to learn more about this necklace. This sea heart is a sea bean that grows in a GIANT 12 foot long bean pod on the Entada Gigas tree, falls into the sea and washes back up one day beautifully polished.
The sea heart is thought of as a talisman and collected by beachcombers who travel to the islands in search of this wonderfully unique bean.
The beads look like hand made, irregular clay beds in varied shades of brown and orange/brown.
The cracks are unique from drilling the bean through its hard shell. Left untouched, I was told that left alone in lasts beautifully for decades.
Measurements:
12 inch drop to juncture from which a few beads, then the bean hang (another 4” to the tip).
