Vintage 1980s handcrafted Abalone mother of pearl string belt
This beautiful string belt was handcrafted in the 1980's. It features 9 beautiful pieces of Mother of pearl that have been hand cut in trapezoid type shapes and attached to a thick piece of black acrylic to help protect the shell from breaking. They are connected by wire which is decorated with stone. At the end of the belt is a row of copper beads and then the cord is tied off and fans out to be tied around your waist. These pieces of shell are VERY reflective and give off lots of purple, green, white and pink colors depending on the light. Belt is 63" long from each end of the cord to the other end. The shell pieces are large at about 1.5" each long and 1" at the widest end. I wish I could show how beautiful this belt is in photos. It would be an amazing accessory for anyone who likes something unique.
