Vintage Italian Hand Painted, Gilt Embellished Lidded Box

Gorgeous Vintage Decorative Borghese Terracotta Treasure Box. Divided interior. Very cool piece! Purchased from an estate sale of a local antiques dealer. This light blue green painted box will brighten any tabletop or dresser! Made by Borghese in Italy, this small treasure box has applied intertwined classical leaves in gilt as a cover handle. A gilt border on the lid compliments the leaves. The remaining surfaces are an antiqued aqua. The interior of the box is approximately 7" x 23/4". The interior is 1 1/8" deep. It was most likely made in the 70s or 80s.

The box is free of chips and cracks. Unglazed paint on terracotta is a vulnerable finish. For its age, the box is in very good condition.
