Sam Kramer (1913-1964), the iconic modernist jeweler who worked out of his shop in Greenwich Village in lower Manhattan In New York City would sometimes work in the mornings in his pajamas. The copied excerpt is from the Online Encyclopedia Silver Marks, Hallmarks and Maker Marks. It quotes an obituary from the New York Times, and displays a couple of photos of Kramer's works. Remarkably one is of the brooch design that is being offered for sale here. Kramer's jewelry creations are in a number of museums around the world.
If you can, try to get a copy of "Jeweler on the Edge," a book by Lisa Greenbaum about the eccentric genius, Sam Kramer.
