Offered here is a new, unused vintage set of 5 Hida Shunkei lacquerware plates (4.5” diameter each), preserved in their original signed box with the maker’s pamphlet.
About Hida Shunkei:
A traditional craft from the Hida region of Gifu Prefecture, Hida Shunkei (飛騨春慶塗) dates back over 400 years to the late 1500s. Developed by a master carpenter, it is celebrated for its transparent amber urushi lacquer, which enhances and preserves the natural grain of the wood. This makes every piece unique and one-of-a-kind.
