These vintage tea cups were popular souvenirs during World War II. The depict a image of a hidden geisha once held up to the light. This is an actual Kyoto piece with hand painted details. This is a rare design that’s not normally found in one of the “wider” tea cups.
The quality and authenticity of the cup can be shown through the clarity of the geisha image. The details on her face/hair and clear which indicts the quality. There is a small line where the cup may have been cracked but it is not very noticeable.
This is a great piece for anyone who loves vintage cup sets or Japanese souvenirs.
