The set is in good shape with some wear from being played with. The set is not complete but has all the parts to set up. Cars work when tested with a 9V battery. Here is what is missing from the set: 11 track clips, 1 guard rail, 1 start/finish line sign (has posts for it), and then divider stripes and other decals. The parts all have wear from play. The cars have wear from play. The black Firebird is missing 1 side mirror. The rest of the pieces have wear but nothing too bad. The box has the most wear and is not in perfect shape but would look good on display. One of the sides has tape on it. Then the box has other wear like creases, edgewear, discoloration, etc (see pics). There is no date on the set but would guess its from the late 1980's early 1990s. The set is used and comes as is so please ask any questions you might have. This set would be a great addition to any collection
