This is an 1897 edition of Florence: Its History—The Medici—The Humanists—Letters—Arts by Charles Yriarte, revised by Maria Hornor Lansdale and published by Henry T. Coates & Co. in Philadelphia. The book is beautifully leather-bound, featuring gold tooling on the spine and covers, along with gilt page edges. Inside, there are striking marbled endpapers that complement the ornate exterior. Condition-wise, the boards show wear at the edges and corners, with some scuffing on the spine and light rubbing on the covers. The binding seems reasonably solid, though there is some chipping at the spine edges. The interior pages are clean with only mild age toning. It’s illustrated throughout, offering a richly detailed glimpse into Florentine history, art, and culture. Overall, this is a handsome antique volume for collectors of art history, Italian history, or simply those who appreciate fine leather-bound books.
