Joanie Sommers sang a duet with Edd Byrnes, Kookie's Love Song , on 77 Sunset Strip at age 18 (1959). She charted a major pop hit, Johnny Get Angry in 1962. Sommers was a frequent guest on TV game and variety shows of that decade. Her 1965 single, Don't Pity Me, didn't sell well in the US, but proved popular in Britain, and continues to fill dance floors there. Sommers left the music business in the 1970s to focus on her family, but returned with the album Dreams (1982). Her most recent release to date is Here, There and Everywhere! (2004).
