In 1853, Bausch & Lomb was founded in Rochester, New York, by optician John Bausch and furniture maker Henry Lomb.
In the 1930s, military supplies accounted for 70% of the company's total production. In 1936, they developed sunglasses for Army pilots and named the brand RAYBAN. The Rayban brand was a Bausch & Lomb brand until it was sold to the Italian Luxottica Group in 1999.
These sunglasses were originally sold as safety glasses in the 1960s and featured a three-dimensional cross hinge design. In recent years, they have been worn by celebrities like Takeru Sato and Ren Yamada of the Omoshi Channel.
This vintage item is scarce on the market and has been in short supply. I purchased it in the United States, but it was slightly too big for me, so I am listing it for sale.
