Antique OYSTER PLATE MARGUERITE Transferware ROYAL STAFFORDSHIRE England MINT
This is a lovely antique 6-well OYSTER PLATE from the Royal Staffordshire Pottery, Burslem, England. It is decorated in a Brown transfer printed design of stylized DAISIES - titled MARGUERITE .
It is featured in Collecting Oyster Plates by Jeffrey B. Snyder (pg 19) - oyster plate by Arthur J. Wilkinson (Ltd.), Royal Staffordshire Pottery, Burslem, Staffordshire, England (1885-1968). the value of this plate is around 795 to 950 according to the book.
Each of the 6 wells is divided with an alternating pattern of embossed snail shells and seashells with sprigs of seaweed - a ring of seashells surrounds the center well - very similar to the classic Minton majolica Oyster Plate design.
Marked: MARGUERITE - Royal Staffordshire Pottery - Burslem - England (mark used from 1891-1910)
Measurements: 9.75 diameter, .75 high edge - each well is 3 w x 2.5 d.
