Fenton blue and green Vasa Murrhina basket
Adventurine Pattern 1964-1968
This vintage Fenton basket is made of blue and green Vasa Murrhina glass. This striking glass was made by using frit which is small bits off broken glass. First molten opal glass was rolled in a bed of blue and aventurine green frit. This glass would than be cased inside a layer of crystal glass and blown into a mold. Vasa Murrhina glass, which translates to vessel of gems, was made by Fenton in the 1960's. These beautiful blue /green pieces were made between 1964 & 1968. The aventurine green adds sparkle to the basket and the beautiful blue color is a nice contrast. Both colors are lovely against the white background.
