While a modern restrike, it does still include 83.3% silver and feature the bust of Maria Theresa, Empress of the Holy Roman Empire, on the obverse.
Austrian arms appear on the reverse. Restruck at various mints since Empress Maria Theresa’s death in 1780 – including Vienna, London, Paris and Rome – the date of 1780 X on the coins remained the same, a mark of genuineness to populations where many of the coins circulated.
