An absolutely stunning piece of vintage art glass, this submerged bud vase was made by Murano and was designed by Luigi Mandruzzato in 1960s. It features a beautiful plum purple color that is haloed by amber and encased in clear glass. It has a faceted / geometric design and is a stunning piece of sommerso art glass. Sommerso, Italian for submerged, is an Italian technique that was developed in the 1930s. The process allows artists to achieve the illusion of immersed coloring without actually mixing the colors.
Condition: This piece has a small chip near the top corner of one of the edges, with a smaller chip below it. There are a couple of smaller knicks on one other edge. There is light scratching on the bottom of the vase and a small one I noticed on one of the sides. Please see pictures for detailed images.
Note: Production errors are presents in the piece. There are a couple of small bubbles within the glass. This is not a flaw or defect caused by damage and is unique to each
