Teapot stand's by Mason's Ironstone are rare items and this is a very early one manufactured, circa 1815. This stand is circular and is heavily potted with a stronger foot rim and an additional inner circular rim to support a tea pot or small tureen. The pattern is hand-painted over-glaze w/ typical bold enamels over an under-glaze transfer printed outline. This pattern is one of Mason's earliest chinoiserie influenced designs called the Table and flower pot pattern, as illustrated on page 104 of a guide to Mason's patent ironstone patterns, circa 1813 to 1848, published by The Mason's Collectors' Club. The base carries two marks; the single line impressed mark stating Mason's Patent Ironstone China and a green colour washed printed crown and banner with Mason's above, dating this piece to circa 1815-1820. Dimensions; Outer Diameter: 7.25 inches Top Inner Circle Diameter: 3. 38 inches Top Inner Rim Diameter: 5 inches A good piece with many practical uses as a dish.
