A complicated weaving of gold painted beads with tiny bugle beads, interspersed with deep garnet, sapphire blue and coral colored flower patterns defines this early hand woven necklace. Her training as an architect is obvious in her use of circles and angles, and a touch of asymmetry adds interest. The V shaped necklace is 10 long on each side, and uses a large gold painted bead and beaded circle as a toggle clasp.
Maria Calderara's fashion sense has made her reputation as an innovator on runways throughout Italy. But her start in the early 80's was more humble, and her beaded jewelry pieces were painstakingly made with her own hands.
