This 1794 edition is Volume I of the collected works of Augustus Toplady, A.B., well-known for his Calvinist theology and authorship of the hymn “Rock of Ages.” This early volume includes Memoirs of the Rev. Augustus Toplady and Historic Proof of the Doctrinal Calvinism of the Church of England, among other theological writings and commentary.
This 230 year old book is in overall fair condition for its age:
• Cover: heavy wear, fading, scuffing, and worn corners; marbled boards with leather spine; front and back covers a bit loose
• Spine: rubbing, cracking, missing pieces at top and bottom; title plate mostly intact
• Pages: overall good condition with age toning, handwritten notes on some endpapers and margins, small tears. Blank page at beginning almost detached
• Edges: darkened and age-marked
• Measures approximately 8.5” x 5.5”
