We cannot escape history, Hardcover – 1943 by John T Whitaker

Whitaker, an American writer and journalist who served as a correspondent for several prominent newspapers in different parts of the world. He witnessed and criticized the atrocities of the regimes of Mussolini and Hitler. In this book he explains why things happened as they did through eye witnessed accounts.
In early 1936, he covered the Second Italo-Abyssinian War for CBS, accompanying the Italian troops. The government of Benito Mussolini awarded him the Croce di Guerra ( War Cross ) for his reporting on the Italian conquest of Ethiopia.
Publisher: Macmillan Company

This book is an interpretation of our times in which the author's experiences form the illustrations by which he makes his points. He traces the political disintegration and moral confusion which marked the retreat of the peaceloving nations before the advance of Fascist aggression until it was almost too late.
No dust jacket. Cover faded. Stain on spine.
