Amazing vintage Eagle Mark 3 Aztec eagle Cuauhtli 925 sterling silver sandwich brooch or pin
The back is stamped / signed Mexico 925 Sterling  and has an Eagle 3 stamp. 'Mexico' identifies where it was made. '925' is the Hallmark for Sterling Silver.  the Eagle 3 stamp is a stamp used on Mexican jewelry made from 1950' - 1970's to indicate the purity of the Silver metal used is Sterling Silver (92.5% pure silver). Eagle Cuauhtli is inlaid with onyx and copper. The reason it's a sandwich is because there are two layers on silver with onyx in the center so if you were to look at it on its side you can see onyx. Roll-over clasp works great. TONS is natural patina. Heirloom quality. Rare! You don't see this version of Cuauhtli. Cuauhtli is the first day of the 15th trecena in the Aztec calendar, associated with equality and freedom.
