The Framed Antique 18th Century ( Circa.1749 ) Engraving O the Roast Beef of Old England / The Gate of Calais , Painted By Artist William Hogarth ( British, London 1697-1764 ), Engraved By Charles Mosley ( British, Ca.1720-Ca.1756 ), and Published According to Act of Parliament March 6th, 1749. This Scene Includes A Self-Portrait of Hogarth's on the Left Side Takes Place in that Location and Satires the French and Catholicism. In the Centre A Fat Friar Fingers A Huge Piece of Beef While All Numerous Poor and Emaciated Figures are in Desperate Need of Food. This Engraving was Purchased From Christie's. It Shows Minimal Toning, Discoloration, and Few Wear on the Frame Consistent with Age, In Good Condition. , In Good Condition.
