This charm was released by Tiffany in the 1970s as a charity to support the rehabilitation of women with alcohol addiction and other issues.
It was conceived and designed by Walter Hoving, former chairman of Tiffany & Co. He established a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center for women in Garrison, New York in 1967.
In the 1970s, Tiffany & Co. created these pin badges and donated all proceeds to support the cause.
As a result, over 90% of the patients who received rehabilitation reportedly recovered and were rehabilitated.
