-Quartz is among the minerals with the greatest variety of use. Clear Quartz has the same physical properties as regular quartz, meaning it can be utilized in the same way.
However, its distinct optical properties gave it a range of special uses, such as the production of lenses and prisms. As an ornamental rock, Clear Quartz is used as a gemstone, as well as for the production of carved crystal glassware - although today it has been largely replaced by regular industrial glass and plastic.
-Brookite almost always appears together with Quartz; it's sometimes completely hidden in the Quartz mineral. It is a rare collector's mineral, particularly its variety called Arkansite, a black and opaque Brookite found in Magnet Cave, Arkansas (USA). Only small fragments can sometimes be transparent. Cut crystals are very rare and mostly in private collections.
