This Ideal postage scale dates from about 1900. At one time it was tole painted but now only one line going around the base is visible. Ghosts of the floral pattern can still be seen on the uprights and the back of the curved piece. The paper label is intact and shows the rates for merchandise & printed matter, catalogs & books, and newspapers. The maximum weight measurement is two pounds. This scale is in very good working condition. It has no dents. On the base there are small areas of loss to the black paint from use. Size: 7 in. long x 4 in. wide x 6¾ in. tall.
