Hand carved and hand painted folk art caving by Elvis Castillo, Oaxaca, Mexico. The signature verifies its authenticity and it was made in the 1990's. In excellent condition, ear was chipped when purchased and part of what I love about this piece.
Many of his pieces can go for hundreds of dollars.
Alebrijes are traditionally made in Oaxaca in the towns of San Martin Tilcajete as well as San Antonio Arrazola. These beautiful works of art have become very popular over the years among art collectors worldwide and are highly sought after.
