A Bit of History: The Newport pattern in ruby glass was made by Viking Glass New Martinsville in the 1930s.
The New Martinsville Glass Company was founded in 1901 in West Virginia. The company was known for its use of color in its glassware. They started out making tableware, but later expanded into lamps, vanities, & other products
The company operated under various names for almost a century, including Viking Glass. In 1998, the company was forced to close due to increasing manufacturing costs & foreign competition
