This is an 1855 edition of Prose Writers of Germany by F. H. Hedge. The book has had a rough life, and has extensive aging, wear, and tear. The pages have spotting, stains, and water damage. Additionally, the last few pages have been torn, and only the bottom halves remain. The front and back have writing, as well. The binding is fairly decent, though the fabric is beginning to come off. The edges of the pages still retain a gold shimmer when viewed from the side, as well. Overall, it is still in fairly decent condition given that it is over 150 years old.
According to the writing in the front, the book was given to one J.H. Williams by his mother on July 4, '80 (1880).
