Set of 2 Pen and Ink Art Prints, with original signature by the artist James E. Coyle. Matted and framed with glass in solid wood frames, in excellent condition. These are scenes of 1970's Helena, Montana - the Broadwater Hotel, and the Broadwater Natatorium (which were torn down in 1974 after sustaining earthquake damage). Fantastic examples of Montana history! Each print measures about 9x12 inches.
J. E. Coyle was a professional artist in Sandy, UT starting in the 1970s. He was basically self taught, gradually developing his own style over the years. He focused on pen and ink drawings of buildings, locomotives and ghost towns. The Broadwater Hotel and Natatorium would have been long left empty at the time he drew them, being torn down soon afterwards. The Broadwater was built in the heyday of Helena's gold rush fortune in the late 1800's as a lavish resort by Colonel Charles Broadwater. It stood as a symbol of Helena’s wealth and Montana’s progressiveness.
