This is a delightful 2 color straw hat from the fabulous 40s'! The round crown and the top of the partial brim are a greenish blue color, and the bottom of the brim is true blue. The crown is surrounded by a light blue narrow grosgrain band that ends in a bow at the back. The brim is upturned and features a large white fabric flower and green leaves on one side, and smaller flowers on the opposite side. Simply gorgeous!The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war & on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials. Explosions of feathers, veiling & artificial flowers were popular. Label: Size 23. There is no designer label, indicating it was a custom-made creation.This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Feathers, straw, furs, flowers & veils are fragile, given their age. Mannequin not for sale.
