FGETCHING 1950s' NAVY STRAW HAT + FABRIC PANSIES, TAFFETA BOWS & VEILING

This is a fabulous Navy flexible Straw hat from the fashionable 50's. The medium height crown is cylindrical and is indented at the top. It is surrounded by a medium width brim. The edge of the brim is shaped to look like it has a double brim. Around the crown there is some navy veiling tucked in, because the veil has some damage, so not suitable to cover the face. If preferred, it can be removed. Large navy taffeta bows are attached to the front area, plus some beautiful large fabric "pansies" adorning the front. This is simply a beautiful hat!Throughout the 1950s, ladies wore hats daily as a part of their attire as was a pair of gloves. To preserve its market, the millinery industry set about creating variety and extravagance. They were now touted as the essential accessory to complete the ensemble. There is no designer label, indicating it was a custom-made creation.Please do not expect perfection! This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years.
