ARRESTING 1940s' NAVY STRAW WIDE BRIM HAT WITH PINK GROSGRAIN TRIM + VEIL

What a Fantastic look from the fashionable 1940s'! This beautiful hat is made ofnavy straw. The crown is very small and round, surrounded by a wide brim.Under the brim there is a half cap towards the back to hold the hat in a tilted position. The crown is trimmed with a pink grosgrain band which ends in a bow at the back. To finish this look, there is a full black veil.The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war & on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials. Explosions of feathers, veiling & artificial flowers were popular. Label: ROXBY plus some numbers which could be inventory information. This hat may not been worn. There is an other label stating: Adjustable Head Size.This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Feathers, straw, flowers & veils are fragile, given their age.
