SPLENDID 1940's BROWN FELT "HALO" HAT WITH PINK FEATHERS & QUILLS

This is an outstanding brown felt vintage hat from the 1940s'. The crown is round and is to be worn towards the back. The brim is also round but only covers the front and tapers down towards the sides. The brim creates a "halo" effect. At the front, the brim is pierced by beautiful pink feathers and quills. There is an elastic band attached to the inside of the hat to keep it in place.A halo hat (sometimes halo brim hat) is a millinery design in which the headgear acts as a circular frame for the face, creating a halo effect. This millinery design style first appeared in popular fashion in the 1880s. The style reappeared in the 1930s, its open, off-the-face shape a welcome departure from the over-the-brow cloche shape that dominated millinery fashion in the 1920s.
