This is a striking look from the 193s'. The round shape go this one piece hat is made of burgundy felt that is indented to create a sort of brim. The top of the hat has a chain-like gold trim on top of where the quill of a navy feather is wrappe. The curly feather projects upwards creating a striking look. There are 2 wide navy grosgrain strips that cascade towards the back. A burgundy covered elastic strap is attached to the inside of the hat to hold the hat in place.Tilt hats were popular in the 1930s and 1940s. They were worn at an angle and held to the back of the head by a strap, rigid ring, elastic band beneath the hair, or a combination of these. 30s Fashion certainly seemed fussier than the 1920s with its relentless ornaments of bows, trims and frills.There is no designer label, indicating it was a custom-made creation. There is n imprint inside the hat stating MADE INUSA.This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Feathers, straw, flowers & veils are fragile, given their age.
